Wedding Officiant for a Day
Wedding Officiant for a Day
I would like to share some information about officiating at a wedding. I have watched this trend over the years of having someone like your friend or a family member become deputized for the day to perform a marriage ceremony and I would like to share some thoughts about that. I think it is a wonderful idea in theory to have someone officiate your ceremony that has known you for a long time and loves you. And I understand that this is the underlying reason that some people make that choice.
So here are some things to consider when choosing that person:
You want someone who is very comfortable speaking to large groups because you need them to be there for you, the bride and groom. Getting married can be a very intensely emotional experience. The last thing you want on your wedding day is to have to be emotionally or otherwise supporting and worrying about the person who is going to perform your ceremony, making sure they are ok, feeling responsible because you have asked this friend or family member to do this enormous task for you on this most important day of your lives.
